Beauty Pill's new album Beauty Pill Describes Things As They Are was released last Tuesday, April 21 via Butterscotch Records. This past weekend saw them featured on NPR's "All Things Considered." Listen to the amazing and compelling feature HERE!
After over a decade releasing critically acclaimed recordings the Washington, DC based Beauty Pill - who Stereogum recently called a "mutant-pop quintet" - amicably parted ways with Dischord Records in 2014 in pursuit of their evolving artistic interests. Beauty Pill Describes Things As They Are is their first for the NYC-based label Butterscotch Records. The album comes 11 years after the band's last release and after band leader Chad Clark survived a rare and typically fatal heart disease. It was recorded at the Artisphere Gallery near DC in full view of the public as part of their Immersive Ideal residency series . The end result is a deeply personal political album that combines the experimental side of indie rock with wholly new layers of electronics, beats and samples.
